What to Expect

Candidates for a music therapy internship at PMT will be encouraged to connect, play and grow with the guidelines of American Music Therapy Association Professional CompetenciesCertification Board for Music Therapist Certification Domains and AMTA Code of Ethics.  PMT offers a unique learning opportunity because of the team of board certified music therapists on staff.

This is an unpaid internship. We encourage you to apply for the Southeastern Region of AMTA Internship Scholarship and the opportunity through the Music Therapy Association of South Carolina.

There is a $1,000 stipend available per intern. Some of the tangible benefits include HIPAA Compliant Email Account, Business Phone App, Name Tag (to keep as proof of your hard work) and access to work uniform apparel. Reliable transportation is a required necessity since some of the internship work will be completed off site from our practice locations. Mileage will be reimbursable when traveled from a work location to another work location using the current IRS Rate. Additional benefits include: work space with materials and supplies plus kitchenette access. These benefits are not included for interns: housing, transportation and meals.

Interns must have acquired all competency-based prerequisites for internship (including both coursework completion and clinical experience) required by both the AMTA approved college/university and the internship program, prior to beginning the internship.
