What is an Arts & Science Council Cultural Arts Education Provider?
Piedmont Music Therapy is a private practice established in 2013 to support individuals’ health and wellness through music and music therapy in Greater Charlotte. A team of board certified music therapists with a combined total of over 27 years of clinical training working with individuals of all ages is an Approved Provider for public, private and charter schools in Charlotte, NC. As an ASC Cultural Arts Education Provider, we provide workshops and residencies centered around music for social and emotional learning of students, staff and faculty. What ASC Arts Education Offerings does PMT provide?
PMT offers 8-10 week programs for students, grades K - 12 titled Express Yourself and Music Making Group. We also offer professional development workshops such as Exploring The Benefits of Music & Music Therapy, Music Therapy and Mental Health in Elementary Schools, Musical Strategies for an Elementary School Classroom or Musical Strategies for Middle & High School Classrooms, and Professional Development Training: Musical Me.

Piedmont Music Therapy is is listed on the The South Carolina Arts Commission's Directory as a creative arts provider in the Midlands and Upstate of SC.

What SCAC Arts Education programming does PMT provide?
PMT can provide workshops and residencies during the school day to public/private/charter schools with K-12 programs, that apply for a SCAC School Arts Support Grant which could support students’ social and emotional learning through music based curriculum!

If my grade school doesn't qualify for the above grants, how can we partner?
PMT has worked with schools that did not secure grant dollars through creative solutions like PTO or PTA-sponsored series and fundraising partnerships for short-term collaborations. We have also worked with educators in the consultant role, which could assist by providing ideas and suggestions for ways to tailor the classroom environment.

How can we request music therapy programming on our campus?
To request programming on your campus, please complete Request Services so we can confirm a feasible commute, scheduling availability and staff capacity to facilitate the requested programming during the school year.

May we request a guest lecture from a music therapist to our class?
PMT appreciates opportunities to share about its mission and work in the community of Charlotte Metro. We do request an honorarium when providing in-person presentations, especially if the audience size is 25+ individuals. Contact us at least 2 months in advance to explore the scheduling request with staff.
