Group Music Therapy

What’s a music therapy group session like?

Group programming is available for clients to engage in music, movement, creativity and fun with similar-aged peers and foster social, emotional, and cognitive development. Led by music therapists on staff, skills explore are sharing and turn taking which relates to individuals’ goals through communication & self-expression. Materials in the sessions often include real musical instruments, like drums, maracas or Boomwhackers, and visual aids for singing, song writing, and social connection.

How much does it cost?

Partner Session are 2 individuals enrolled for a short-term or ongoing group series.

  • 30-minute weekly partner session costs $50/appointment. For example, total for an 8-week series would be $400.00.

  • 45-minute weekly partner sessions cost $80/appointment. For example, total for an 8-week series would be $640.00.

​Group series usually last 6-8 weeks. The number of clients peer aged enrolled ranges from 3 - 6 individuals.

  • 30-minute weekly group cost: $40/appointment which is for younger aged clients. For example, total for an 8-week series would be $320.00.

  • 45-minute weekly group cost: ​$68/appointment for adolescent & adult aged clients. For example, total for an 8-week series would be $544.00.

Piedmont Music Therapy is actively enrolling Young Adult Clients who would like to join a weekly group beginning December 4, 2025. They will meet weekly with 1-2 music therapists from 10:00 - 10:45am. If interested in enrolling, contact PMT for intake paperwork!

Where are the group sessions located?

Group Music Therapy Sessions are offered throughout the year at PMT Main: 224 Westinghouse Boulevard, Suite 608, Charlotte, NC 28273

 

The children’s groups are in the first treatment room and the adolescents & adult groups meet in the large Group Room. The lobby is cozy, so caregivers are encouraged to enjoy the business property as there are sidewalks and waiting benches if the lobby is at capacity.


Bathrooms are available on site as well.
