How much does an evaluation cost?
New client assessment: $185

How much do individual sessions cost?

Does insurance cover treatment costs?
Typically, no. Most insurances do not cover music therapy in North and South Carolina. However, always reach out to your insurance company to ask about mental health benefits, as well as if approval/referral is required from a primary care doctor.

Are there grants that I or my family can apply for?
Yes! Please view this list of financial resources for individuals, updated 1/22/26.
PMT issues a 5% administrative fee for individual grants to fund the processing steps, so for example $50.00 will be taken from a $1000 grant to cover those admin. costs.
If your family requests a Letter of Support for a funder, please provide at least one week's notice via email or phone.
PMT's Family and Friends Fund, has one space remaining for clients under the age of 21 (effective 4/3/26). There are no current funds available for adult aged client

How do I pay electronic invoices?
The new system, Jane, will walk through the electronic payment systems. In order to have a secure account, a payment card must be on file with our practice.
Note: if your family uses ESA+ grant dollars through NCSEAA, PMT will provide an advanced bill for your family to submit to ClassWallet. Upon receipt, PMT will create a gift card to "charge" per appointment in order to transparently track advanced funding. Any appt. cancelled due to sickness/emergency policies, will be credited during the next batch invoice.

How much does it cost to perform in the recital?
Recital fee: $20 per recital
If more than one family member performs, then there is a 25% reduced fee for each additional performer.
The recital swill be separately billed to families through Intuit Quickbooks.

Are mobile treatment sessions possible?
Based upon medical necessity, in home appointments incur a mobile fee of $50.00 or more, pending upon commute length in relation to PMT’s Office Location (224 Westinghouse Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28273).
Travel fees are determined from our main address, as follows:

$50 per appointment that is up to 5 miles round trip

$75 per appt. that is 6 - 8 miles round trip

$100 per appt. 9 - 12 miles round trip

$125 per appt. 13 - 15 miles round trip

$150 per appt. 16 - 20 miles round trip
