I am looking forward to providing an in-service on music therapy at a local meeting of the National Alliance on Mental Health. Music therapy has shown efficacy in mental health care with some goals of improved self awareness, increased self-expression, and developed coping skills. More information is available through this document from the American Music Therapy Association. Handouts from my presentation will be posted on this blog after the in-service. There will be a mixture of education about music therapy and mental health, plus music making together. Have a great week! Because of inclement weather all NAMI Piedmont Tri-County Meetings are cancelled for Tuesday evening, February 11th. Rescheduled meeting will be April 8, 2014.
