Music For All: Series #2
Course Description: This course is designed to provide special educators and classroom teachers with knowledge and competencies for using music with students who have special needs. Participants will be able to learn more about special education and efficacy of music therapy within a student’s learning environment. Considerations will be explored for effective use of music in a classroom setting. By enrolling in a portion or entire course, the participants will be more informed about music for students. In order to practice as a music therapist, one needs a college degree in music therapy and certification credentials from The Certification Board for Music Therapists. By enrolling in this course, one is unable to claim to practice as a music therapist. Each student is unique and their circumstances are different.
(6/8-6/12) Series 2 will cover similarities and differences between music therapy, music education and music in the classroom and why music is an effective tool for learning.
Learner Objectives:
- Understand the similarities and differences within music therapy, music education and classroom music applications.
- Identify theories and principles related to music
