- Title: Exploring The Benefits of Music & Music Therapy Description: This presentation will be an overview of the functions of music, framework of music therapy and applications for the mental health of students, plus self-care approaches for educators using music. A combination of information sharing, discussions and hands-on experiences will provide opportunities for learning. No prior musical experience is required! Learner Objectives: 1. Identify 2 reasons for a music therapy referral, 2. Explore 2 ways to use self-care strategies, 3. Recognize one way to develop rapport with students or coworkers through music
- Title: Music Therapy and Mental Health in Elementary Schools. Description: This interactive workshop will be an overview of music therapy, usage in mental health for elementary aged students and resources for services and programs. A combination of information sharing, discussions and hands-on experiences will provide opportunities for learning. Learner objectives: 1. Recognize at least 2 differences between music therapy and music education, 2. Explain 3 ways music therapy can be used to address the needs of today’s students, 3. Identify 2 service options for music therapy in public schools.
- Title: Musical Strategies for an Elementary School Classroom or Musical Strategies for Middle & High School Classrooms. Description: This workshop will define four functions of music based upon neuroscience and provide ways for educators and staff to consider classroom management techniques and strategies to support their students. Discussion and hands-on experiences will focus upon resources and considerations for the developmental needs of students. Learner objectives: 1. Identify 2 functions of music, 2. Explore 2 ways to use music in your classroom, 3. Create 1 musical strategy for your classroom
- Title: Professional Development Training: Musical Me. Description: This interactive workshop will support educators, staff and administrator's self-care techniques, promote healthy communication methods and use of the arts. No musical experience is required for attendees. Learner Objectives:1. Explore 1 music based activity, 2. Identify 1 reason for self-care, 3. Distinguish their communication style
REMINDERS: All instruments/materials are provided with the above listed programming. Therapists are trained to support children and teachers with varying learning needs. These will be hands on and interactive.
